What is Airbrush Tanning?

Tanning occurs when the skin produces pigment to protect itself from UV rays and permanent skin damage. In airbrush tanning, the tanning solution is applied by a technician using a compressor and airbrush. Their tanning solutions contain the active ingredient DHA that reacts with the outer layer of skin to produce a bronze effect, similar to what a traditional tan does. For most solutions, the color of the skin will continue to darken after the initial application, and the maximum color is reached within about a 10 hour period. Typical solutions have a cosmetic bronzer that is sprayed on the skin that will provide an immediate tan effect. This feature is great because it allows the client to have the “instant-gratification” of immediate color before the actual solution is in full effect.The majority of this cosmetic bronzer will be washed off when taking the first shower after the application. Frequently Asked Questions

How do I prepare for my customized airbrush tan?
A. Before you are scheduled to receive your tan your body should be clean and dry with no soap residue to interfere with your tan. *Avoid bar soap* as it leaves undetected patches on your skin. Exfoliate prior to your appointment to remove all loose and dead skin cells.
Apply no deodorant, perfumes, or lotions to skin prior to tanning. Shave, wax, or receive pedicures the day before!

What should I wear to my appointment?
A. Select dark loose clothing, bathing suit or underwear. Disposable undergarments are available upon request. Flip Flops are recommended to wear home. Please NO jeans as they cause unintended exfoliation.

How do I maintain my Airbrush Tan?
A. We recommend you wait 6-8 hours before taking a shower to allow the solution to fully develop on your skin. No physical activities that induce sweating or water contact.
When showering, gently use your palms for lathering in lieu of a loofah or wash cloth. Shower with luke warm water- hot water, hot tubs & sauna’s, chlorine & salt water will reduce the length of your tan.
Hydrating your skin with our recommended “Extender Lotion” will extend the life of your tan.

How long will my tan last?
A. Clients results will vary. However, if you follow our steps your tan should last anywhere from 5-7 days.
